✦ About Micro-Lens

Making everyone
a scientist.

Micro-Lens is the software companion to the Make-roscope — a pocket microscopy system built by Jeremake to put real scientific tools in everyone's hands.

Our Mission

Science, in every pocket

Jeremake's mission is to empower anyone, anywhere to explore, observe, and discover the world scientifically using tools that are simple and affordable — while contributing their findings to a growing, shared body of knowledge.

Micro-Lens is the software layer that makes that happen. Point a phone (with or without a Make-roscope attached) at something alive, and the app names it, explains it, and saves it to your collection. What used to require a lab, a textbook, and an expert now takes a photo and five seconds.

Curiosity is universal. The tools to act on it shouldn't be reserved for the few. That's the whole idea.

What we're changing

The problems we're here to solve

Science today is still locked behind expensive tools and traditional classrooms, making real discovery inaccessible to many. Here's what we're changing.

Access is limited

Micro-Lens is free to use. Pair it with the affordable Make-roscope kit and you have a full microscope-plus-identifier for a fraction of school-lab pricing.

Learning is confined

Science stays inside classrooms because the tools do. Micro-Lens goes wherever a phone goes. Field trips, backyards, sidewalks — all become labs.

Curiosity is underutilized

Curiosity is natural. What's missing is a way to act on it. Micro-Lens turns “what is that?” into an answer — and saves the answer for later.

Safety Commitment

Safe by design

Because Micro-Lens is used by students — many of them under 13 — the choices we make about data, content, and physical safety matter. Here's how we approach each one.

Partnership Opportunities

Let's work together

We're looking to partner with schools, districts, educational nonprofits, and researchers who share our belief that science education gets better when students get to explore.

Schools and districts

Bring Micro-Lens (and the Make-roscope kit) into your grade 4–12 science program. We offer educator training, custom challenges, and district-level dashboards.

Educational nonprofits

Roll out Micro-Lens across summer camps, after-school programs, and youth science initiatives. Volume pricing and co-branded challenge sets available.

Researchers and citizen science

Micro-Lens observations can feed into iNaturalist and other citizen-science networks. Talk to us about custom challenges for your research question.

Content collaborators

Museums, botanical gardens, and state parks — partner with us on species guides and seasonal challenges tied to your ecosystem.

Make-roscope, an all-in-one pocket laboratory microscopy kit

Companion hardware

Meet the Make-roscope

Micro-Lens works with any phone camera — but it works best with the Make-roscope. The pocket microscopy kit turns your smartphone into a real microscope, capable of viewing samples up to 400× magnification.

Snap on the lens, place a specimen, and let Micro-Lens do the rest. Cheaper than a school lab. Small enough for a field trip.

Micro-Lens is built by Jeremake, powered by iNaturalist.
